The Duke of Edinburgh’s International award is a non-competitive, internationally recognized program designed to encourage young people to develop positive skills and lifestyle habits. The award is about personal challenge and development and is adaptable according to each participant’s interests and abilities. The award is open to participants from 14-24 years of age.
Each participant must complete a prescribed amount of volunteer, skill, and physical activity hours. Each award level also requires both a practice hike and a qualifying journey. Here at Korah, we participate in an overnight practice hike in May and a multi-day fall qualifying expedition in Lake Superior Provincial Park in September.
Please see Ms. Prophet, Mr. Wilson, Ms. Woods if you are interested in joining Duke.
